Our Story...
There are easier ways to make wine and beers. There are cheaper ways to make wine and beer. That’s not how we do things at Mac’s Creek. We’re committed sustainable craftsmanship. Committed to doing things the right way, the best way that we know how. From the grapes that we grow, to our care for the vines and the soil they grow in, to our attention to detail in every step of the winemaking and brewing process, we’re committed to producing the best wine and craft beers that we’re capable of, not just this year but for years and generations to come.
Our commitment to crafting the best wines and beers we are capable of starts in the vineyards and with the hops we use. We grow grapes that are bred to thrive in our climate and soil; we believe that working with nature leads to a better product. Our commitment to a sustainable process means that we are constantly working to reduce or eliminate synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. The grapes are handled and pressed to ensure the desired result. This is not a one size fits all process, and every step along the way is important to ensure the quality of the finished product.
The land around Lexington, Nebraska presents unique challenges in the vineyard, it also produces unique benefits. We can’t grow the wine grapes you’re probably most familiar with: Chardonnay, Merlot and others just won’t grow well in our climate. That’s not a problem though; we’ve always believed that it makes more sense to work with nature than against it. Because we grow grapes that have been bred to be productive in our extreme temperatures and short growing season we’re able to produce wines and flavors that you just won’t find anywhere else.
Mac’s Creek Winery & Brewery is family owned and operated by the McFarlands since 2001 and is located one-half mile north of Lexington, Nebraska along the banks of Spring Creek. We’ve been raising grapes since 2000 and regularly grow over 10 varietals that we use to create our wines. In 2019 Mac’s Creek started brewing beer as an extension to their brand.
